E-Commerce Gets Boost from New Schiphol Declaration System
A simplified e-commerce declaration system called VENUE has recently been launched by Dutch Customs at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The airport has noted a significant increase in the volume of parcels they handle nowadays which have been purchased via e-commerce platforms. The new system has been designed to speed up the passage of smaller shipments of goods through the airport during the transitional phase of the Union Customs Code.
VENUE-authorised shippers are now able to submit a pre-declaration, including merely minimal information. Further details, such as the HS code, can be included later on a periodic supplementary declaration. Goods valued at €22 or under require no supplementary declaration.
The VENUE declaration will be available until Q3 2019.
